Mick, Pauric & Aoife O'Kelly at home.
Mick, Pauric & Aoife O'Kelly at home.

My good friend, Artist & Lecturer, Mick O'Kelly, asked me to take some photos of him & his family. While we were setting things up at his home I shot off a few candids to check the light levels. I really liked this one, where the 3 of them seemed totally oblivious to my presence - especially Aoife who was doing neck stretching exercises at the time - it has a surreal quality about it and its one of my favourites.

Mick was conferred with a Ph.D. in Philosophy a few years ago and so he's Dr. Michael O'Kelly. On being told this his mother, in true Dublin style, said: "Michael's a Doctor ? Well I'd never go to him if I was sick - sure he knows nothing about medicine!".

Ironically, Mick's socially driven Art projects for Dublin's homeless - a healthy-food Van; and in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with his Nomadic Kitchen - which can be moved from Community to Community, have surely improved the health of many! That's a real Doctor!
