Dublin Tribute to Ewan MacColl - 1989.
Dublin Tribute to Ewan MacColl - 1989.

Johnny McDonnell enjoying a pint of Guinness in the Lady Gregory pub, Jervis Street - then owned by Kerry man Mick McCarthy of the Embankment fame.

The occasion was a lunchtime tribute to the memory of the legendary folk Songwriter & Singer, Ewan MacColl who died in October 1989. This informal Dublin Tribute was organised to co-inside with another more solemn "Service" being held in Westminster Abbey on the same day and at exactly the same time. The weather had been dull, overcast and raining all morning, but once the gig started out of nowhere these beautiful rays of sunshine just blasted through the pub...Well after all Ewan was a God to most of us in the pub!

Location: Ewan MacColl.
